i'm a big fan of 1969-1978 dead. the few shows i've listened to in the 80's/90's have been a mixed bag of good & bad. i was hoping for some suggestions to help turn me on to this era of the dead. thanks.

An excellent start for the Brent era are the two Cape Cod shows 10/27-28/1979. Both are amazing shows. I could flood you with more, but I think that is pefect starting point.

Cliff agrees with SDH, then suggests working backwards, until you get it figured out...

Ah, but one does not live a complete life with both eyes always in the rearview mirrror. Well, more rearview than '79.

start with all 3 nights of Alpine valley summer 1989. Could be the best 3 night run of the band's craeer. that is not an overstatement. Atomic stuff.

Grateful Dead Live at Madison Square Garden on 1987-09-18 (September 18, 1987)- great Dew

Grateful Dead Live at Olympic Center on 1983-10-17 (October 17, 1983) - best Sugaree ever, and it ain't even close. find the soundboard version though.

Grateful Dead Live at The Spectrum on 1983-04-26 - my favorite Shakedown

Grateful Dead Live at Hartford Civic Center on 1983-10-15 - famous St Stephen.

10-15-83 is a must, also 11-30-80 and 12-13-80. 8-28-81 is great as well. For 90s check out 3-30-94 and 6-17-91 is a must have. 5-10-91 is underrated and great.

Check out 7.31-8.10 '82. What a terrific run.

Then also 6.23.90 is a good show.
